Last week, the Re-Matt team headed to Banff, AB for the Alberta CARE (Coordinated Action for Recycling Enterprises) Recycling Spring Seminar.
Alberta CARE was established in 2010 as a non-profit enterprise for the purpose of supporting recycling and waste management activities, at the community level, in Alberta. Alberta CARE is an expansion of Northern CARE which was established in 1994.
The goals of Alberta CARE, are summarized, as follows:
- Coordinate recycling and waste management activities at the community level.
- Establish partnerships that will bring together diverse interest groups towards a common focus and implementation strategy for recycling and waste management.
- Promote recycling and waste management as part of the day-to-day lifestyle and culture of Albertans.
- Promote awareness of new recycling initiatives to the general public.
The Spring Recycling Conference attendees vary from municipality officials to landfill operators, to waste management business to school board representatives. It's held over 3 days and there are many different tours and presentations from various environmental and recycling companies. Re-Matt was excited and honoured to be asked to present on the final day of the conference. Our Director, Shawn Cable did a fabulous job of introducing Re-Matt to the 150 audience members and his presentation was very well-received! Great job Shawn!!
We are extremely thankful to Alberta CARE for inviting us to share our vision of mattress recycling in Alberta. We met tons of amazing people and had a great time!
